eSIM for Egypt

Connected in
Egypt — from the pyramids to the Red Sea

From the pyramids of Giza to a dive in the Red Sea at Hurghada — Egypt is a country of striking contrasts. Buy your plan online, get a QR code by email, and switch it on the moment you land in Cairo, Hurghada or Luxor. Without the steep roaming fees from your Belgian or Dutch carrier.

eSIM for Egypt — mobile data in Cairo, Alexandria, Giza
  • No physical SIM card needed
  • QR code straight to your inbox
  • 4G & 5G via Vodafone, Orange and WE
  • Works alongside your Belgian or Dutch number

Travel smarter, from the Nile to the Red Sea

Whether you're visiting the pyramids of Giza, exploring the temples of Luxor and Karnak, heading down to Aswan, or simply visiting family in Cairo — Egypt is vast and varied, and an eSIM keeps you connected everywhere you go, without any surprises on your bill.

  • Built for a country full of highlights

From the pyramids of Giza and the temples of Luxor to the High Dam at Aswan and the Red Sea resorts of Hurghada — Vodafone, Orange and WE together cover every major destination in Egypt.

  • No expensive roaming

Egypt sits outside the EU roaming rules. With a local data plan via Ariya you pay a fixed amount upfront, instead of the unpredictable rates charged by your Belgian or Dutch carrier.

  • Honest about the desert

Away from cities, resorts and the Nile valley — out in the open desert — coverage is often limited or absent. That's true for every carrier in Egypt. Download offline maps as a backup for a desert excursion.

  • Everything sorted digitally

No queueing at a SIM counter at Cairo, Hurghada or Luxor airport. Your eSIM profile is on your phone within a minute.

  • Your own number stays active

The eSIM works alongside your existing SIM card. Family back in Belgium or the Netherlands can still call or text you on your usual number — whether you're on holiday or visiting family.

  • Ready for the Red Sea too

Heading to Hurghada for a diving or snorkelling trip? Stay connected for weather, maps and sharing photos, without burning through your bundle on roaming.

Connected in Egypt in 3 steps

No technical know-how required. From purchase to an active connection at Cairo, Hurghada or Luxor airport takes about fifteen minutes.

  1. 1

    Choose your data plan

Head to the Egypt page on Ariya Mobile, pick a plan that fits your trip — a city break in Cairo or a longer combination of the Nile and the Red Sea — and pay securely online.

Tip: combining sightseeing with a Red Sea beach stay? Go for a larger bundle so you can navigate and share photos along the way.

  2. 2

    Get your QR code

Right after purchase you'll receive a QR code by email and in your Ariya account. Scan it via your device's eSIM settings — it takes a minute.

Tip: install the eSIM at home over your own WiFi before you leave. It's less convenient at the airport.

  3. 3

    Activate on arrival

Once you've landed in Egypt — Cairo, Hurghada, Luxor or elsewhere — switch on data roaming for the eSIM. You'll be online right away for Maps, rides and your accommodation.

Tip: set the eSIM up as a "data" line, not for calls. That way family still reaches you on your existing number.

Connected from Cairo to the Red Sea

The Egypt eSIM from Ariya connects to Vodafone, Orange and WE — Egypt's three major networks — for broad coverage in cities, along the Nile and in the coastal resorts.

Supported networks

  • Vodafone 4G / 5G
  • Orange 4G / 5G
  • WE 4G / 5G

Cities with good coverage

  • Cairo

  • Giza
  • Luxor
  • Aswan
  • Hurghada
The open desert: in and around major cities, along the Nile valley and in the coastal resorts, coverage is generally stable. Out in the open desert, away from the Nile and the main roads, signal can be weak or absent — that's true of every Egyptian carrier, so always plan a desert excursion with an offline backup.

Everything you want to know about your Egypt eSIM

What is an eSIM and how is it different from a regular SIM card?
An eSIM is a built-in digital SIM card. Instead of a physical plastic card, you download the SIM profile straight onto your device via a QR code. Your existing SIM stays put — the eSIM simply works alongside it.
Which networks does the Egypt eSIM from Ariya use?
Your eSIM connects to the major local networks: Vodafone, Orange and WE, for 4G and 5G internet in cities and tourist areas.
Is the eSIM useful for both sightseeing trips and visiting family in Egypt?
Yes. With coverage from major local networks across Egyptian cities and tourist destinations, it suits sightseeing at the pyramids and temples, family visits in Cairo, and business travel alike.
Will my phone work with an eSIM?
Most recent smartphones support eSIM: iPhone XS (2018) and newer, Samsung Galaxy S21 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer. Go to Settings > Mobile network and look for "Add eSIM". Not sure? Check our FAQ page.
When should I install and activate the eSIM?
Install: do this at home over WiFi before you leave. Scan the QR code, follow the steps in your settings — done.
Activate: turn on data roaming for the eSIM line as soon as you arrive in Egypt. That way your bundle only starts once you actually use it.
Will I keep my Belgian or Dutch phone number?
Yes, absolutely. The Egypt eSIM is a separate data line alongside your existing SIM card. Your Belgian or Dutch number stays active. Family and friends can still call and text you on your usual number while you use data from the eSIM.
Does the eSIM work out in the open desert, away from the Nile?
Honestly, not always. In Cairo, along the Nile valley and in the Red Sea resorts, coverage is excellent. Out in the open desert, signal can be weak or missing — that applies to every local carrier, not just Ariya. Always bring an offline map for a desert excursion.
How long is my data bundle valid for?
Validity depends on the plan you choose — day plans, week plans and month plans. The clock only starts once you switch on data roaming in Egypt, not at the moment of purchase.
Can I buy extra data if my bundle is running low?
Yes. Through the Ariya Mobile app or website you can buy a new bundle and activate it instantly at any time, even while you're in Egypt — as long as you still have a bit of data left or are on WiFi.
What if I run into technical issues with my eSIM?
Our support team is happy to help via ariya-mobile.eu/contact. The most common causes: roaming is switched off, or the eSIM isn't set as the "data" line. Our FAQ page has step-by-step fixes.
